Program Overview

The xCall Incentivized Testnet launches July 31, 2023

After this testnet phase, xCall will launch on mainnet. The first iteration of xCall on ICON mainnet will use the Blockchain Transmission Protocol to provide interoperability functionality

This is an opportunity to dive deep into the xCall interoperability interface layer, to establish your team for continued development, and to help push towards a seamless transition to mainnet

There are ICX rewards associated with this program as well!

We are looking for teams to work with for continued development, so make something that inspires!

How the xCall Incentivized Testnet works?

The program runs across multiple phases, each of which is designed to test various dimensions of the interoperability service and grow the overall ecosystem

Currently, the following networks are connected via xCall and Blockchain Transmission Protocol (BTP)

Developers and community members will participate in a series of competitive tasks and guided challenges. With each challenge, participants have the opportunity to earn tokens

In total, about 850k ICX is allocated to be distributed to winners!

To ensure a turnout diverse and representative set of participants, the program is focused across several themes:

Why get involved?

You’re early! This means that in addition to direct rewards for quality contributions to the program, another great draw to this program is that it is an invaluable opportunity to build meaningful connections with ICON’s core developer team and ICON developer community

Because our goal is to build a lush product ecosystem for interoperable dApps using xCall technology, we are currently actively in search of development teams to build demonstrations and plan specific roadmaps for xCall-integrated products

So we invite developers of all ecosystems to come take a look at the xCall product and take this opportunity to build

After the incentivized testnet program closes, there will be many follow up resources and funding opportunities available to development teams for their products that use xCall, so now is the time to get involved!

Who can participate?

The xCall testnet is open to any and all members of the community to participate, but not all participants are eligible for rewards

We welcome validators, developers, and community members of all stripes to get involved, however, the judges from the ICON Foundation will not be eligible to receive rewards

Additionally, while it was indeed a competition, everyone was required to play nice and be decent to one another. Those who violate the Rules of Engagement or Code of Conduct, exploit software vulnerabilities, use social engineering attacks to exploit competitors, or use malware to attack other participants is grounds for disqualification

Please note, claiming rewards will require completing identity checks

How to join?

Once the program launches, you can go check out the challenges. You'll just submit a simple form after successfully completing each challenge

You can learn more about xCall and ICON through our xCall Docs. If you run into any issues while exploring xCall, join the ICON Discord to get support from our developer community!

Anyone who assists in the judging of a challenge is ineligible to receive rewards for that challenge. This includes the following members of the ICON Foundation, who will assist in the judging of all challenges: Eric Solomon, Cyrus Vorwald, Min Kim.
